Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman
Jemmy, an orphan, lives in the castle. His job is to be the whipping boy for Prince Horace. When the prince misbehaves Jemmy takes his punishment. When the prince decides to run away Jemmy must go with him. He knows the king will blame him for the prince's disappearance but he has no choice. After they are captured by notorious criminals, Jemmy has to come up with a plan to save the prince, who does nothing to make Jemmy's job easier.
